I am pleased to offer computer repair service to our community on a donation basis. It is my aim to provide more of a public service than create an income (although, I do need to live). I offer to work on computers for what you can afford instead of setting a particular rate for this service (you can think of this as a kind of self guided sliding fee scale if you like).
With the majority of computer shops charging $60-$90 an hour the elderly, disabled and other low income people in our communities rarely can afford these services. With your help I can end this at least in our community. If some one can truly not afford to pay a dime they can still have their computer repaired. However, I do retain the option to refuse service to someone if I feel that this service or myself are being abused. Hopefully, this is will be unnecessary.
Warranties are pretty much a non-issue as I believe in getting things working right the first time so if something quits you just bring it back and I take care of it. If it is hardware that you purchased we just return it for a new one assuming it was under warranty.
Also, I refuse to do anything illegal so don't ask me to. I am aware that many used computers come with out restore disks. Usually, I can still make provisions to work with these older systems if you are missing your disks.
In
time, it is my hope that others will join me in helping our
communities, performing computer repairs and network servicing for
non-profit charitable organizations and people who are unable to afford
these types of services.
As for what I get out of this? .... I
receive a feeling of being a benefit to others and also provides me
little bit of extra income to get by on, as I am disabled myself.
